The Secret Sauna Returns: Squamish's Legendary Riverside Sauna Is Back as a Mobile Rental
Once a hidden, hand-built sauna on the banks of the Mamquam River, it was rescued, rebuilt and now travels across the Sea to Sky corridor.

SQUAMISH, British Columbia, October 8, 2026 —
For years, Squamish had a local legend: a hand-crafted sauna tucked along the banks of the Mamquam River. There were no signs and no bookings. Those who knew where to find it came for the steam, the silence and the sound of the river.
Then the sauna was sold off, and the story looked like it was over.
Today Mamquam Sauna announced that the original "Secret Sauna" is back. Glenn, its new owner, bought the sauna, preserved its character and rebuilt it as a mobile, wood-fired sauna that can now be rented across Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton.
From riverbank secret to backyard retreat
The rebuilt sauna is delivered and set up for guests, complete with a dedicated cold plunge tub for hot-and-cold contrast therapy. It is available for $325 per 24 hours.
- Wood-fired heat in the original sauna, restored
- Cold plunge tub set up on site
- Available across Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton
Every delivery goes to private property. Renters propose their location, and Mamquam Sauna approves it before the booking is confirmed.
Keeping a community story alive
The Secret Sauna was never a business. It was a place where people found warmth, community and a reset in nature. Rebuilding it means a piece of Squamish's outdoor culture lives on, now for anyone who wants to experience it.
Bookings are open now at mamquamsauna.com.
